Reflections: Project 2: Comic Life story - Touring Alaska
My sister and I went to Alaska recently, and I immediately thought this would make a great comic strip of some of the interesting things we saw, did and taught about the areas we travel in. Of course, I could have built many more strips, but stopped at 8. I added a 8th as a bonus for the Aurora Borealis light show Mother Nature gave to us. This comic strip is titled “Touring Alaska” and will highlight some interesting sites as we explored parts of Alaska, and went as far north as the Atigun Pass.
Challenges:
My main challenges in utilizing Comic Life was taking the time to actually learn the application and picking out a template that I wanted to use. I did choose a template, and from there trying to create my story using a storyboard as a table in Word was probably my next challenge.
Lessons:
Lessons learned from utilizing this program, would be no other applications running on my computer. Comic life is a memory hog for some reason, and I had such issues with it being so very slow and unresponsive. I finally had to restart my computer to get it to work where I didn’t want to throw it out the window! I have 8 GB of ram as well, so there is no excuse for the application to be so slow. For that reason, I really can’t see that I would actually use it. Perhaps I could find something similar if I had time, but all in all, I’m not all that jazzed about using Comic Life.
