Unity
According the Melissa Yocum, she states “the definition of Unity occurs when all of the elements of a piece combine to make a balanced, harmonious, complete whole. Unity is another of those hard-to-describe art terms but, when it's present, your eye and brain are pleased to see it” (Yocum, 2016).
In looking at this definition, as a photographer, you want to capture the “whole” of the image and the objects so your viewer “sees” what you are seeing. In the photos below, where the captions are at the bottom of the image, you can see unity in the various objects in the image. The bee hives create a sense of community –at least for the bees, while the snowy pine needles create a sense if unity in color and pattern. The beach fence, creates unity within the repetition of the posts and the blooms of the wisteria do the same, with the patterns. Reference:
